Here is the article and commentary. Thanks to Richard Sachs for sending my way. Lou Deeter, Orlando FL

Lou Deeter noted:

...The New York Times had an article on custom bicycles on Sunday, 28 May. It was in the Business Section, Page 7. They mentioned that custom bikes can cost as much as $20,000 and there is a picture of a lady holding her $8000 custom bike. It was interesting that only one CR listmember was mentioned that I caught--Don Walker. I was surprised that Richard Sachs wasn't mentioned given the location. Ben Serotta certainly got his share of press. Don Walker estimated that there are 125 professional builders now in the United States...

In addition, the same NYT mentioned that there's a show in Germany called "Pimp my Fahrrad", based on the MTV show (which I've never seen) called "Pimp my Ride". Anyone seen it?

And I've not had a chance to read it, but the latest Outside has an article about billionaire CEO bike racing enthusiasts. Those list members who take the line that their bikes are a portfolio with wheels may well be proven correct.
