An overlooked advantage that Ken D. shared with me is that they make for a decidedly quicker repair should the rear tire flat on a bicycle with track ends. Beyond that, they also don't cause (or worsen) toe clip overlap, they sure are easy to mount and given the short arc and simple mounting method, they can be easily tuned for an even fender line.
