Subject: [CR]Fake Gios really is absurd

If you go to the Ebay site and look up the Gios frameset you will be invited to clink on the Sheldon Brown link which the seller has put there with the stated purpose of helping you determine the year of manufacture. The link that he posted brings you to a Sheldon Brown site alright. But it is the site which helps one determine the date of a Raliegh! Using the information of the serial number there we can determine that the bike is a 1980! However, this serial number is for Ralieghs not Gioses! Using the same link I have determined that my MP3 player is an 1983 and my cordless telephone is a 50's model! At this same site it mentions that Carlton Ralieghs are made with Reynolds tubing. I guess my MP3 player is also made from Reynolds too. The seller also states that the Gios has Italian threading, however nowhere on Sheldon's site does it state that any Ralieghs are made with Italian threading. In order to determine that, the seller presumably would have had to try to thread in an Italian bottom bracket. This requires actual logical thought, but if he used a Raliegh serial code breaker to determine a Gios frameset age, I have to assume his ability to think logically is very limited. Pardon me now as I determine if my MP3 player is Italian threaded.
