Hi Ian Is this the Ian Briggs I think it is? Tommy Godwin was the first BCF National Coach prior to Norman Sheil in the70's. He owned a bike shop in Coventry called "Tomme Godwin Cycles" now there's a surprise. Mick Bennett (TOB organiser and Olympic medallist) rode his frames whch were built bt Mercian I believe.
