It' difficult to accurately date De Rosa frames from the 80's. I have two frames from the mid to late 80's and one earlier one, and have owned a couple more. The earlier one is with Brian at the moment, so I can't look at it, but I can look at the other two, which both have Campy drop-outs. Drop-out details on one look very similar to Ray's. That frame has a flat crown fork and no bridge in the chain stays. The other frame is my wife's pink one, which was supposedly made for a friend of mine who worked at Gita at the time. That frame has a bridge in the chain stays, and the D-O treatment is different than on the other and the pink eBay frame. Nicer than both actually. Rather than the ends of the chain stays being cut the same on both sides of the drop-outs, this frame has the stay-end cut shorter on the inside transitions, with a more pronounced radius. Hard to accurately describe, so I'll try and take a couple pix and post later today.

Here is a pic of the rear drop-out on the De Rosa I sold a while back:

I agree with Lou's estimated date. SL De Rosa frames were also available well into the late 80's. I seem to recall the pink color like the eBay frame as being a stock, rather than custom, color, but still fairly rare.

My SWAG on this is 1983 +/- one year. Reasons: SL tubing with the generic Columbus decal (doesn't say SL) as the Professional model was SLX from about 84 on for the 80s. The two water bottle mounts put it after 81 or so as they had 1 mount before then. It would be nice to know whether this was a custom color or whether it was a production color and what years it was offered. Lou Deeter, Orlando FL
