Anthony;

John's right, Faliero sig had settled on the right by this time. The use of the blue panel decals continued for quite a while, well after the switch to all-yellow DT decals (mostly on silver or yellow bikes... I do have a few original examples in my photo archive from '83 with this decal), so that in and of itself does not suggest a repaint. The rack brazeons and the second set of bottle bosses (one of which pierces the crest) are more of a concern however. Best thing to do is send a link to Jim Allen, who would have been the bike's original painter. He's got a great memory and phenomenal records and can probably tell you if the paint and brazeons are original.

The braze ons for a rack are very atypical, that with the earlier transfer set that has the Masi and the Gran Criterium in two different colors AND the blue background suggests a transfer set from much earlier, the Carlsbad period and before. Masi was using yellow for the primary text on the downtube for some time, with no background color. Not that it could not have been done, but not seen yet. I can see why a refinish was suspected.

Last blue background downtube panel frame I saw I think was Guy Apple's and it is from 1980 if I remember correctly.

The Falerio signature on the RH side is not unusual for this time, for a while it flipped back and forth but had settled on this side for quite a while prior.
