Right, you lot!

Robert St. Cyr and I decided a while back that we ought to host a CR ride here in Davis, but we never have gotten off the mark. While enjoying a lovely ride last Saturday in honor of St. Fausto, some of the gathered riders expressed interest--particularly if a peek at the UC Davis collection of antique bikes (not open to the public) could be arranged.

Okay. We're going ahead. Saint Paddy's Day, Saturday, March 17. Not a tough ride--there's no hills close enough to climb, so fixed-gear will be fine. Specific start time and distance to be determined, but we'll be back in town for lunch at Cantina del Cabo around 1:30 PM. Why Cabo? Well, beer, sure, but they've also agreed to clear space so we can park our pedals inside the restaurant! Heck no, rain doesn't cancel -- we'll just skip the ride and meet up to ogle old bikes inside Cabo at 1:30.

And after we're darn good and ready, it's over to UC Davis for a look at some REAL OLD bikes. Old like the vintage 1824 Draisine. Old.

And cool -- like the six-man pacer. The final drive chain on this thing is a serious piece of work. Very, very cool.

There's about 70 bikes, mostly pre-1900. Beyond that, Robert and I will haul in our modest stashes. You'll find something to look at for a bit.

So RSVP to me if this sounds like fun, and we'll follow up with more details. Thanks!
