I'm pretty sure 1983 is when the shield logo appeared. The 50th anniversary grouppo has the shield hoods, I believe that was the first time they were used.
I have a Team Raleigh with a complete '82 grouppo, all the date codes on it are 82, and the hoods are world logo.
