Many years ago I called Campagnolo USA to pursue warranty replacement of a Record rub that had a cracked flange. Their rep first asked if the hub had been laced more that one way, which it hadn't. Then I was asked how the old spokes were removed prior to rebuilding. I explained that I had unscrewed the nipples a half turn at a time working around the wheel until the tension was relieved. I may have been embellishing somewhat, but it was clear that he was looking for me to say that I cut the fully tensioned spokes out with wire cutters. In addition to trashing your rim, it appears that cutting tensioned spokes (a common bike shop timesaver) has potential to damage your hub. At least Campy seemed to think so.
