Subject: [CR]ID help for Campagnolo "cable stop" front derailluer

Drew asked:

Please help me date this Campagnolo Derrailuer. I am pretty sure it is a

late 50's-early 60's model, and it is NOT a Nuovo Record model by virtue

of the cable stop. I saw a similar model on German Ebay go for $260 the other day, but the seller had little to no info on the model or year. Any helpful info would be appreciated, email me at drewmonroe(AT)hotmail.com with any info, or if you are interested in purchasing it or trading some 80's era Record/Super Record or ANY era Campy Pista stuff for it.

Aldo and Harvey have correctly identified the derailleur period. The earlier one, that generally attracts the highest prices, had a number of differences when compared to your derailleur. First there is the material of the arms which as has been pointed out were made of chromed brass. Second they were fitted with screws. Third, the cable stop did not have the groove to allow the removal of a cable with cable end cap still installed. In Italy, you will often find these with the cable stop chopped off.
