Subject: [CR]Monson bicycle swap meet recap

it was a great day for a swap meet in southern Massachusetts, well for an indoor swap meet. there was all the usuals from the area, Peter weigle + Kendell, Maurice, Ken denny, Billy rounds and eddie ALbert and the usual sellers like Sam Fitzsimmons. They are all great people to see and make the swap enjoyable.

Tons of Campy Nuovo Record parts for sale everywhere. I must have bought 5-6 sets of brake calipers, of various qualities and vintage. It seemed as if all the sellers were happy and buyers seemed happy with the prices as well. It appeared to be a sell out show, as there was no more room indoors for sellers to set up in the cool Memorial hall in "downtown" Monson.

There was some really rare bikes on display, well mostly Off topic bikes like a Barnes white Flyer, 1934 Aerocycle, and a dayton twinflex. Eddie Alberts brought a miniature copy of a Baines Flying Gate made for a racers son, an 8 year old. Eddie can feel you in on the additional information he provided with the bike on display, as he thoroughly researches all his bikes. Ken Denny presented a 1950s chrome Cilo, in beautiful original condition. He also had a Legnano Cambio Corsa frameset for sale at a very reasonable price. (I lost track if it sold or not).

We ended up with 55 or 60 bikes over the week, we picked up 32 bikes the night before from a seller, including a 1930s raleigh Clubman. someone must have a good picture of the loaded Van, that seated 3 people snugly.

well see all the regulars at the next swap meet, Mike Schmidt and Eric elman were both missed.
