The "hat in the ring" decalcomania on the seat tube got me to wondering about it's application on Schwinns. I've seen it on a variety of Schwinns, though I cannot say what time period. Does anyone know the genuine origin, Schwinns' use, time period etc? I recognise it as a World War I squadron insignia but why Schwinn? Was Eddie Rickenbacker on the Schwinn board? Thanks.
