I had a pair of GB Synchrons on my Jack Taylor road/path that replaced a set of GB Coureur plus's. I thought they worked much better than the coureur pluses but still weren't great shakes as modern sidepulls go. They definitely stopped better, but with the plastic bushings, it had a somewhat mushy feel. And I had problems with the rear brake squealing. I'm now using some minimalist long reach Universals. That said I've got a really clean set of Synchron calipers bought NOS for a nasty high price that I'd be happy to sell for $50 plus shipping, barely used. The original pads should be perfect as they were new and I was using Mathauser's with them myself.

Happy trails,

I was taking a look at a set of GB Synchrons on ebay and was curious if anyone has had any experience with these? They look like an early pre-cursor to dual pivot. I know they were also later manufactured by Altenburger (sp?) as well.

Anyhow, if anyone knows how they stack up against modern dual pivot, or older sidepull and centerpull, I'd love to hear it.

Thanks.
