In the 70s and into the 80s Elswick-Hopper used to produce a "club"/semi touring bike model called the "Sovereign".

It was pitched somewhere near the upper echelons of the company's range and included a Reynolds-tubed frame. I cannot remember much about them exce pt that they were a reliable steady ride, had a slightly bland, almos t Japanese look about them, had fluted seat stay eyes/caps ( I think) and were often painted in a light-to-mid metallic green, although I seem t o remember a bronze and a ruby metallic variation on the finish. I think th at "Sovereign" was in large letters on the down-tube, but the head-badge wa s Elswick.
