Subject: [CR]cinelli stem construction (steel)

Hi All-

Can someone fill me in on the construction of Cinelli and other steel stems? I know the tubing is fillet brazed, but I'd like to know about the small tube that the wedge bolt head stops on. Specifically, how long is this piece of material inside the stem; what diameter/thickness is this material? I'm guessing 1/2 inch but I don't have a sample to look at. Someday I'd like to make a few of these, including an adjustable track stem out of 4130 tubing. Of course, I keep saying that I'll finish building that vintage-style track iron to hang my inch-pitch goodies on too....
