not sure if this one still exists at this point but its one pals and i used numerous times on car and cycle tours in canada when i lived in maine the quebec city hostel was in the old quebec city jail seemed like a medieval fortress stone and iron the cell doors had been removed the steel bunks were still there the one in bar harbor maine was much as another was described an 100+ yr old church former offices or classrooms for families one large "chapel" for the men a smaller similar room for the women kitchen and nice showers that could be used even if you didnt sleep there they also had lockers for those who visited the island and wanted to stay several days so they didnt have to haul all their stuf round all the time there was another ive used in yrs past in new brunswick that was university dorm rooms used fer hostel during summer same in madison of course in madison in summer the many lake docks were the preferred sleeping quarters under the stars and there was always easy access to dorms in those days fer showers n such then theres the lazy lizard in moab last time i stayed there the entire downhill team for specialized was staying there too great topic and i have to say i too am glad to find out some of yall actually ride bikes anyone familiar with the modern version? couchsurfing.com? peace sarahgibsonkansascity
