Davis,

Though I haven't been to their shops, I recently saw the handiwork of Vanilla Bicycles and Ahearne Bicycles (both custom KOF builders located in Portland) at the Handbuilt Bike Show. Both have websites that you can preview. I was particularly impressed with the attention to details by Vanilla.

We'll actually be staying with folks in the town of Tigard, if that makes a difference. Also, we are going to take the train from L.A. to Portland and back, and I was looking for any helpful advice from anyone who has experience taking a bike on Amtrak. Packing suggestions, etc. CR content: The bike in question is my '75 Condor Superbe.
