I noticed in this picture of your Gazelle http://i21.ebayimg.com/06/i/000/92/ce/6a1d_3.JPG that your Simplex TdF derailleur has its pulley cage configured upside down.

Counter intuitive, but nevertheless the lower pulley in your picture should be the upper pulley in practice. Simplex did this so that the chain made the smallest bend possible. At the time this was thought to have less frictional losses.
