Subject: [CR]White Flat Cap Water Bottles: Holy Grail of the 50's?

Dear classicrendezvous devotees, Does anyone know the whereabouts (or history) of any of those thousands of white flat cap water bottles mounted proudly on down tube and handleb ars - just after the retirement of aluminum water bottles? (see photos). It think the period stretched from the mid to late 1950s and perhaps a bit into the early 60's.

Am ready to mock up this look with a modern white bottle and replace the spouted cap with a flat one that approximates. I have heard that the pl astic used then was quite brittle, which may account for their rarity - perhaps they simply crumbled into oblivion? Hope some still survived (an d some one has a couple they might spare/sell) Also looking for a pair (or two) of medium size Christophe toe clips fro m the same period (or other brand) (see pic with old Christophe logo). Cheers, Bill Ungar Torrance, CA USA
