Doug et all: It is critical to have the correct extractor. I know and experience can be a hard taskmaster. The extractor to look for is the Stein...remade specifically for this. Here is the link and if you have older Stronglight cranks you will not regret the expense.

C-Record and Victory for sure have that left handed thread because they came with one-key releases. It seems to me that by reverse threading they insured that the cap couldn't loosen as the captured bolt turned against it...
