Peter, you don't have to settle for 'one of those awful leather-covered plastic things' for your '83 Ciocc, you could settle for one of those awful Brooks leather-covered non-plastic ones (Colt?). Seriously, though, although Ideale had probably finished by 1983 and most Brooks stuff was pretty awful by then, it should be possible to find a Brooks 'Professional', dated '83, which will satisfy? A team Pro., perhaps, if you want something with rivets that twinkle? After nearly a quarter-century, it should be possible to distinguish the good'uns from the majority - why not ask Tim Danforth, he must have a shed-full by now? (This won't make much sense to most of you, as Peter responded off-list.)
