Jan, I'd have to guess that pro racers knew a superior product when they saw it??? <grin> I do know that the year 1960 was a period of great expansion for Campagnolo (no footnotes though, sorry).

Maybe you can help me out? Where would information like this appear back in the day?

I think a more interesting article for Bicycle Quarterly would be the demise of the French component industry in the 1980s and that you have access to all that information with the French trade publications you have?

I think if you are looking to me for heavily researched and highly academic articles to publish in Bicycle Quarterly you're talking to the wrong guy. I'm certainly not qualified and besides, it takes valuable time away from riding my beloved vintage bikes.
