Devon,

The fork stiffeners is a misnomer to start with. The "fork stiffner"

is for looks for the most part. Round fork blades for

road bikes need to be heavy gauge. .9 or 1 mm or heavier. Round blades

like that are (were) made by Columbus is 22.2mm diameter and by

Reynolds in 22mm diameter. Not all 22.2mm round blaqdes from Columbus

are heavy gauge. One must find round SP chainstays or the heavy

Reynolds blades to have a chance. Here's a trick. Standard Columbus

oval blades can be re-rounded at the top and will fit into a 24mm

round fork crown.

Brian, do you have an opinion about the use of round blades with long tangs for a road bike? for a light rider, might that possibly mitigate the "issues?" or would that not be enough support?
