This Sunday, The Headbadge, had a classic bike ride and massive bike talk jaw bone session. From what I gather, usually this venue attracts a core group of 10, but today we had to settle for 7. The ride starts out a the parking lot of the Coral Gables Golf course. One half hour of bike talk is followed by everyone jumping on their bikes and with bodies bone cold holding 20 mph for a half hour. This is followed by another half hour of talking, photo shoots and ten more minutes of riding and then more talking. Our odometer registered 11 miles total ride, not enough for myself and my riding buddy for the day, Lou Tripp.

The leader is a 19 year old classical pianist who can rattle off tons of classic trivia, tubing sizes, year of manufacture and such. His enthusiasm is matched only by his casual street garb. The crowd for classic steel gets younger and younger every year, as the other hip young people have no interest whatsoever in anything new. Prices are definitely on the rise ... get ready!
