Years ago (mid 80s) to settle a "bar bet" about what was the first pro team Eddy rode for, I phoned the factory and asked the woman, who answered in impeccable English, to speak to Eddy Merckx. The next voice on the phone was Eddy Merckx, who very graciously answered my question. I thanked him for his time and hung up the phone, fifty dollars the richer.
