Subject: [CR]Killer Chrome

Some time ago someone brought up the idea of using Killer Chrome paint on frames, mainly lugs, to replace old chrome that was too far gone. I think Brian Baylis was also looking into it and working with the supplier. I posted an inquiry on the Killer Chrome website regarding this application and this is the reply I just received:

Dear John,

Thank you for inquiring. Please disregards these e-mail if its a duplicate. The killer chrome is a paint and will not provide you with the protection that real chrome plating gives you. Application is as you stated you need to strip of all the chrome and start of by applying a glossy black finish apply the chrome and clear coat it. Please take a look at our website for complete application instructions. Please feel free to contact me for any questions that you may have. Thank you.

So, it looks like it will work in a decorative application, such as lugs and fork crowns, but not where wear protection is required, like dropouts and the driveside chainstay.
