Subject: [CR]"Vintage Thursdays" ride report

We have a little informal group of local guys that we call "Vintage Thursdays". List member Marcus was on his Masi, Todd was on his Merckx (recently discussed here on the list), Dennis was on his Guerciotti Pista (sans brakes!), Mike was on his Raleigh, Mark was on his Serotta, and I was on my beloved and gaining patina by the year Torpado. At some point we picked up list member Mike E. on his single speed Rambo., and Clyde was on a completely off topic bike, in attendance just to throw some spice in the mix. We ride a 4.75 mile loop around the perimeter of Marcus and Mike E's lovely neighborhood, and last night we were all over the place. Dropping small groups, picking up small groups ... people meeting people ... new friends and old. At one point, Marcus and I were flying along, trading pulls, and realized we had left the closest "competitors" far behind ... out of sight. What are a Masi and a Torpado to do when they find themselves way out in front? Answer: Keep pushing, of course! Once we came round to the starting spot, by "the tree", we found a curb and had a nice relaxing wait for others to catch up. A couple more laps, and I was doing my little 3 mile individual time trial back home. I ended up with about 34.5 miles, and it was a glorious ride, seemingly for all. Old racing bikes ... fun stuff!

One note: Marcus is one of those guys who is a natural. I don't think he gets in anywhere near the ride time he would like, but still I have to warn all of you who will be riding at the Cirque ... the kid has LEGS ... so watch out for Marcus Helman!!!!!!

Ciao, Mark Agree Southfield MI USA
