I once saw a demo at an industrial show where a guy welded beer cans with a special aluminum rod using a "turbo" propane torch. I bought some and a torch tip (which has been very useful over the years) and attempted to weld a broken skeg onto an outboard motor. Of course, it broke off right away. I still have a stack of the rods, but have never tried hard enough to try and repair anything else.

However, someone here posted a website showing something similar and a lot more, which does look interesting. There are lots of examples and videos. http://www.muggyweld.com/index2.html
