Does anyone have any information on track bikes built by Bernard Carré for Helyett?
I own the Anquetil 1956 hour record chromed Helyett (1st attempt, the bike beat the 1/2 hour record, Anquetil then changed bikes a few days later for a Masi to beat the record), built by Carre.
I also have another Helyett track bike, stamped B Carré, that is Anquetil's size. So I'm just wondering if this is an Anquetil bike (no documentation on the provenance of this bike, whereas I have full documentation, provenance and photos for the 1956 hour record bike).
The question is, how many bikes did Carré make for Helyett? Did he just supply frames to Helyett for Anquetil (as a general rule, each rider had his favourite frame maker, Bobet at the end of his carreer for example had his frames made by René Herse), or did other riders in the Helyett team have Carre/Helyett bikes? Who were the other members of the Helyett track team? Are their frame sizes known? Does anyone know of other bikes of this type, or of other Helyett track bikes?
