"My Second tier is probably a third tier.

A Crescent that looks like a PX-10, white with black checkerboard. WCS stripes, VarldMasternCyclen on the TT. Workmanship, well lets just say no files were harmed in the making of This bike. The lugs are gold lined, but the line painter and the lug Guy could not agree where the points should be. So the painter put The lug outlines where they should have gone.

Scott Goldsmith Milford, Ohio"

I had a Crescent as my main and only road bike when I raced from 1975-1981. It had the regular 531 frame but barely mid level components It met the painter (me) for some Imron after the second year. The Nervex lug where at the downtube/headtube junction was a diaster. The top surface was no more than 50% of the original thickness but not from filing. It looked like it had been left in the rain for 25 years, then melted some.:-)

The bike got lots of miles (5-6K per year) and never fell apart. The only thing original was the frame, everything else was "upgraded" to Campy. I sold the bike in 1985 to a friend at work who bought it for his then wife. They got divorced and she went to Guam. Never saw the bike again.
