P.S. It's nice to see that you're not just some bike snob. The Free Spirit is my favorite, too, followed closely by the Roadmaster (of course), and the Open Road by Montgomery Ward, classics all. Granted, they lack some of the snob appeal of the best Huffy and Murray models, but to me they can stand on their own in any discussion of fine bicycles.
