My two cents worth. I have two oval logo 1R stems and both of them have the expander bolt and clamp bolt in alloy. One is from a '74 Raleigh Pro frankenbike so it's history is questionable. The other is supposedly NOS but shows signs of insertion. The interesting twist is that the "NOS" stem has the oval logo on the top but the winged C on the plastic insert on the front.
