Careful, we're hanging on topic by our fingernails here!

I remember the premier issue - had some team rider in green and red kit getting full air on a white DeRosa. IIRC, it seemed on the inside like they felt they had to adopt a bit of mountain bike attitude to stay relevant. It could have been another mag, but I also remember an article on Rox Shox at the '94 Paris-Roubaix (gasp). I think LeMond and Duclos-Lasalle of Gan had them.

I also remember that reading them, even when they were new, seemed a little depressing - like we were witnessing the last attempts to resuscitate a dying genre and we knew it. Mountain bikes were taking over, and road bikes seemed destined for the ash heap. Thankfully, reports of the death of road bikes were greatly exaggerated, of course. I'm no Lance worshiper, but he seems to have a lot to do with the resurgence of the road bike. It's hard for me to call it a renaissance, since it's resurged with all the beauty, grace and soul of a Kitchenaid food processor, but I'm preaching to the choir there.
