We arrived at the De Rosa Plant in Cusano Milanino and noticed a white-haired man smoking near the entrance. When asked whether he was Mr. De Rosa, he replied "no, no I just work here, you'd best inquire inside." Needless to say it was Ugo himself! He had an excellent sense of humor and was further amused by our Spanish accented Italian.
His sons, especially Christiano, spoke excellent English and spent more than two hours with us, showing us all the details of current carbon fiber construction (OT). A few titanium bikes are made each month.
The Master still works daily and can be seen filing forks in the photo.
Everyone was helpful in giving us advice about tour restoration project-a 35th Anniversario Bike, even putting us in contact with people with parts, etc.
In short, this was a great experience!
