I mean, it's kind of not cool to restart an imitation classic bicycle without having something of the original provenance (like an original shop artisan, or a oceanliner-crate full of unpainted frames, or whatnot.) It was a big failure with lambert/viscount, i believe.

Why not name the brand after Rene's half brother, Sid ?? "Sid Herse was Rene's alcoholic half-brother, he always envied his brother's success but could not master the blowtorch. Left penniless by an investment in existentialist start-ups after WWII, sid took odd jobs crushing grapes in Burgundy and fathered half a dozen children. Through some genetic freak of nature one of his sons (also named Sid) turned out to be skilled with the blowtorch, and thus was born Sid Herse bicycles!"

Now that's much COOLER than just re-issuing something, like a re-issue of the AppleCrate stingray or Raleigh Chopper or whatever ... It also gives you some license to balance innovation with imitation.
