Subject: [CR]Mike Kone RH announcement

The opinions expressed so far about this topic represent the range of feelings I've had about this announcement.

It needs to be pointed out that a RH bike is unique because it contains components manufactured (or at least specified and designed) by RH. His components were the best (lightweight, tough, durable) of the era (30's to 60's) and still did well into the 1980's. The fact that he integrated them into a made to measure frame of superb quality makes them even more precious.

Components wear out (so do frames but at a slower rate). To get new replacement components is an alluring prospect.

I'd like to suggest that if RH was alive still and had the presence of mind that he had when he started his company, he'd be cranking out bikes and components using modern materials as well as traditional materials.
