The Herse bike here:

http://ebay.com/<blah>

as a racer possesses little of the cachet of the Herses built for randonneuring, touring or camping. Herse was never known as builder of racing bikes and this example shows pretty beat up paint, the original components seem to not only mostly have gone missing but have been to some extent replaced with poorly chosen and unappropriate changes, and appears to have no special Herse components at all. Plus the auction starting bid at $3,600 is pretty daunting for what it is in my opinion.
