Peter,

I think you nailed it. About a 1976-77 Ilkeston frame in 531 that's probably been re-painted. I've no idea what the H142 means either. It looks like the same lugs, drop-outs and fork crown used on the 753 bikes but with that 27.2 seat post it's got to be 531. Perhaps all this makes it a "special" bike and John should now raise his price. ;-)
