Well, group...it's nice to see that this Meral is apparently going to the States..so I trust that the winner is a member of this List.

Unfortunately the original email that I sent off the the List simply nev er got out of thre starting blocks due to my computer just jammiming up wit h some mystery problem that I had never encountered before. More likely it was the server that I am using that is proving very unreliable. In the end the message reached the List some tewlve or more hours after I first tried to send it.

I have received comments off the List about the bike and also have read those Listed. Clearly Meral is not well known in the USA, and this one will be a bit of a rarity.

I used to spend holidays not far from La Fuye and in those days I was ve ry active on the bike..so I visited the small factory on a number of occasi ons..and I can honestly state that I NEVER saw a green Meral. The company t ended to favour colours, particularly metallics and flambouyants in deep sh ades. They had a spectacular incredibly deep burgundy tinted with brown, a bit like the colour of a 1936 Gevry-Chambertin wine, a high polish black en amel, a black flam over gold (very subtle), a deep blue flam over gold, and a deep blue flam over obliterating white undercoat. Most of the randonneur s were in these deeper colours although the customer could choose his own.
