Hello All,
That Masi Special replica and the inspired original were truly spectacular and clearly highlites of the show. I (along with another attendee) were ready to put down some hard cash for a replica Masi Special. Rob however was not interested in buliding another (bummer!). I guess I'll just have to get by with my 1961 beater Special.

Dear CR listees,
The current Bicycling magazine has a great article in the "MANIA" column
on "Masi Mania" or "Masi obsession",by Speedplay's own,Richard Byrne.If
you go to the Speedplay website you're in for a visual treat,of this
very special "KEEPER OF THE FLAME" project. It's a no holds barred
recreation of one of the older Masi's in the United States,a 1961 MASI
SPECIAL.Mr. Byrne's brother,Stephen,discovered a 1961 Masi Special at a
rummage sale, and brought it home.Being a good brother,he sent the
bicycle to his brother, bicycle & pedal collecting brother
Richard.Richard Byrne then showed it to locals: Brian Baylis,Joe Bell
and Rob Roberson.......an idea was born to replicate the time capsule
find.........check out Speedplay's wesite for a blow by blow photo shoot
by Ian Cummings Photography.Absolutely amazing work by all
involved. Thanks guys for taking the time!
The photographs are worth thousands of words!!! A link to the Speedplay
website showing this labor of love is:
