Hi all,

I've finally posted "before" and "after" photos of my Art Stump. It's dated 12/73 and is stamped with the umber 3, so I assume it's his third (of only 18 total he made, I'm told).

I bought it from Cycle Art a few months ago -- in sound, but heavily weathered condition. It appears to have been ridden little, but when I received it, every steel or chrome part was rusted and every aluminum part had substantial "frosting" from years in salt air. On the other hand, the frame was sound and the paint was ok other than chips here and there. So I stripped it down to every last little nut and bolt and then spent countless hours cleaning, removing rust and hand polishing every part before re-assembly.

I tried to rebuild this as original as I could. Everything on the bike today is original to when I received it other than: the saddle (replaced with same model Ideale 2002), cables and casings, tires, gum brake lever covers (genuine vintage Campys with globe), and new grease throughout! -- I think that's all I replaced. Otherwise original.

Those of you who attended the Cirque this year saw this amazing bike. Talk about "fancy lugs, pantographing and drillium" all on one bike!

Anyway -- you can see the before and after photos here:

A few of the features:

* custom made front derailleur bracket, bottom bracket cable guides, cable stops, pump peg * Stump's own custom cast front and rear drop outs * hand carved lugs * custom gold anodized parts throughout * custom milled seatpost, crankset, stem, headset * custom drilled chainrings, rear derailleur, brake levers, brake calipers, shifter levers, even the steerer tube! * custom pantographed chainrings, stem, seatpost * Pino Moroni skewers * titanium BB & pedals * hi-low rear hub * 180mm crankset * Zeus 2000 alloy freewheel * 1972 Super Record 1st generation rear derailleur

BTW -- Art Stump made this wonderful bike for Donald C. Mitchell, thus the initials "DCM" in the pantographing as well as carved into the BB and the lower head tube lug (graphically done as a large "M" in the middle of a small "D" and small "C").

Cheers!

David
