Subject: [CR]FOR SALE: SUN MANX TT FRAMESET

Group---

I have been asked by a friend to sell his Sun Manx TT (Time trial?) frameset. For the unitiated, this is one of the unique designs built by the British in the late 40's / early 50's. It features a seat tube that intersects the down tube about 5" up from the BB, and has two small diameter posts rising verticaly from the BB to the sides of the seat tube. The fork has the light bracket on the right arm, and a braze-on for a tail light/reflector on the RR seatstay. The seat tube is 56 cm c/c, top tube 57 cm c/c. Wheelbase would be appx. 100 cm. It has integrated bearing races in the head tube, and pump pegs on the rear of the seat tube. Fairly modest lugs, with just a little ornamentation-- not much.

The frame has been partially stripped and needs to be completely rechromed and repainted. It comes with BB cups and axle, and the bolt type headclip/headset, both nicely rechromed.

His asking price is $650, which he thinks is about what he paid a (former?) CR list member for it years ago.. a very unusual and extremely rare bike.

I can take jpegs and send to those who are interested and/or extremely curious. If anybody can recommend a link showing one of these, it would be greatly appreciated. Please direct inquiries to: nelsmiller@msn.com Cheers and Thanks---
