When I was in high school my sister took my brand new Peugeot and crashed it. I ordered a new frame and my father and I thought it would be fun to put the parts in the new frame ourselves. The new forks were a little long for the frame and needed to be cut down. My father, the engineer took a pipe to fill in the gap. When I was at work, he took the "complete bike to the shop for a safety check" They took one look and asked if the bike had been vandalized?? They cut down the forks to fit the bike and tuned it up. 20+ years later I still laugh.
