Subject: [CR]maxicar hubs

I need to overhaul, or at least adjust, a pair of maxicar hubs...and I am embarrassed to say, after removing the nuts and dustcap from one side, I am absolutely baffled as to how to take the thing apart. Do I need a special tool? What am I missing here?

This is why I avoid french stuff like the plague. Nothing is the same as anything else. I've sold every French bike I've ever owned because the stuff is just too much trouble. Except, now I have a nice, complete tandem that I'm finally putting into riding shape, and I thought it wouldn't need much to get it rolling...come to find the hubs a little rough. And a long length of internal brake cable to the rear brake that's metal against metal (can't be right..I'm thinking that thinner cable with teflon is the ticket..we'll see about that).

I digress. Can someone direct me to a web-source, or other source for instructions on how to overhaul maxicars?

Thanks.
