Turmoil on the Tourmalet
Stage 9, 1931 Tour de France. The crowd closes-in on Antonin Magne (#33) and Antonio Pesenti (#16) as they pause to drink from bottles at the summit of the Tourmalet. Behind them, Tour founder Henri Desgrange (light suit) yells and waves for the crowd to clear a path. I think that's a young Jacques Goddet - Desgrange's successor - in the flying helmet. On the descent from the Tourmalet Magne would catch the leading group and win the stage, taking the yellow jersey which he would win through to Paris.
