Aldo - thanks for putting us (me anyway) straight on the use of the long levers on Campagnolo Cambio Corsa gears. It is good to have misinformation or misconceptions corrected. On the basis of the picture you directed us to, it would seem reasonable to conclude that long or short levers were purely a matter of preference, based not necesarily on the purpose of the bike but also things like frame size, rider size, riding position, aesthetics, prejudice and anything else that came to the rider's mind. Incidentally I have gone and high bid on this Atala under the assumption, or in the hope, that a credible sporting machine lies underneath the more recent utilitarian accoutrements. This Atala appears to have the long control levers, which I had heard were more of a touring setup. This makes sense in that the rider would be in a higher position and not want to reach down to the shorter levers which would be more natural for a racer.
