Subject: [CR]FOR SALE: alloy brake kits for Campagnolo Record calipers

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Now available in extremely limited quantities to CR List members for the sum of $30.00 USD per kit to include USPS First Class postage paid with Delivery Confirmation (...expedited delivery, domestic insurance, and/or overseas postage provided at cost), high quality reproduction alloy brake kits suitable for use in conjunction with vintage Campagnolo Record / Super Record calipers. Said kits are excellent approximations of those alloy bits once offered for this very same purpose by the likes of O.M.A.S. and E.T.A. and are now available in your choice of either clear anodized natural silver or black anodized coloration. Photographic images of the specific parts being offered for sale may be viewed using the following link:

Interested parties should please reply directly and "OFF LIST". This offer is only valid until my supply of three silver and two black sets of these alloy brake kits has been exhausted. All inquiries will be processed on a "first come / first served" basis to the very best of my abilities.

THE MERCILESSLY UNEXPURGATED VERSION

In the process of refurbishing yet another retro race bike, I found it appropriate to equip said steed with quite a number of vintage upgrades and modifications as found on more exotic examples dating from the mid 1970's through early 1980's. One of those modifications was to retro-fit its Campagnolo Record brake calipers with several lightweight bits including titanium center bolts and various alloy parts. As with contemporary specialty offerings apropos modern bikes and produced by the likes of SRP (Specialty Racing Products), several different enterprises used to manufacture select "hot rod" upgrade kits during the vintage era including Arnold Industries, OMAS (Officina Meccanica Armando Simoni), and ETA (Ergal Titanio Avional), the latter two of which happen to be Italian based firms.

While I still had NOS samples of many OMAS and ETA originals on hand, I found myself interested in seeing whether certain of these parts might be reasonably replicated such that they could be better "consumed" in good conscience during the course of regular riding duty. What I am offering for sale here are some of those "spares" from my little experiment, and there are effectively two versions available. The first of these has a clear anodized finish applied to natural aluminum, thereby providing a look similar to those bits once offered by OMAS. The second version is comprised of aluminum alloy pieces having a black anodized protective top coat which is more consistent with wares produced under the ETA label (...and which happen to both complement and compliment a Campy Super Record equipped bike quite nicely). Both styles of kits include the following twelve individual piece parts as appropriate for a matched set of front and rear brake calipers:

Center Bolt Domed Nuts - quantity two (...replacing Campagnolo part number 2016) Center Bolt Fixing Nuts - quantity two (...replacing Campagnolo part number 2002) Brake Shoe Nuts - quantity four (...replacing Campagnolo part number 2022) Brake Shoe Washers - quantity four (...replacing Campagnolo part number 2003)

In each instance, the Center Bolt Fixing Nut varies from original in that the ones supplied within the kits I am offering use a nylon style lock nut insert whereas their predecessors did not (...and I consider this to be a "good thing" based upon my previous experience with using alloy nuts in this particular application). Moreover, the original OMAS model 156 brake kit did NOT include any alloy Brake Shoe Washers (...expecting you to use your existing Campy steel versions) and the profile of the Brake Shoe Nuts themselves incorporated a crown similar to their genuine Campagnolo counterparts while the reproductions seen here have a more traditional "flat" outer facing. For those certified weight weenies who absolutely MUST know, substitution of these alloy bits will drop 10 grams from each caliper (...and if you pair these with a titanium center bolt, you can increase that weight savings by almost another 20 grams per component - woo hoo!!!).

Please understand that I have only three of the "silver" and two of the "black" kits available for sale at this point in time with no immediate plans for procuring any more. That said, if there were to be an unanticipated and overwhelming demand for alloy kits such as these, I might be persuaded to special order up yet a few more sets to sate the needs of other CR List members.

I ask that interested parties please correspond directly through my public email address of rsb000@hotmail.com. All inquiries will be handled on a first come, first served basis. I accept payment by PayPal, BidPay, cashier's check, money order, or well concealed cash (...mailed at your own risk). Your satisfaction is guaranteed to the extent that you are welcome to return any purchase for a full refund of monies not to include shipping and/or insurance provided that said merchandise is returned to me in a reasonably timely fashion and that it is in substantially the same condition as when I first sent it out to you (...please let me know in advance of your intentions should this prove to be the case).
