I'm a little late with this, but I wanted to try this stuff to see how it works before I passed along the information. I found out about

this on Fixed Gear Gallery (fixedgeargallery.com). This stuff REALLY works. Go to Jestco Products (jestcoproducts.com) and order Anodize Remover Part #797 for $12. You get a jar\u2014maybe 12 oz.\u2014of salt-like

granules that you mix four tablespoons to a gallon of warm water and soak your aluminum stuff or 10 minutes. Jestco doesn't say to do this, but after soaking I washed the parts with dish soap and warm water on a sponge to get rid of what little residue remained. I did a

couple of old black welded stems and was really pleased. The satin finish is quite nice. Not a trace of the old anodizing remains.
