Vintage or new HUH! Why do I ride the olduns, 74 yrs now and I can still ride the pants of most the Lance wanabees, ON A VINTAGE BIKE YET! I have ridden Ti and Carbon etc, BUT nothing in MY mind can replace 531BD, or 725 on my 2005 Mercian, My 54 Hetch MagOpus curly with Campag Gransport 10 sp, makes climbing as good as it gets, ask the hot shots on Vail pass last week end, BUT I do agree that fitness level is important, as my old team mate Jack Simpson use to say "Its NOT the bike mate, BUT the rider that counts" Now when riding for $$$ you get the best equipment you can, BUT YOU still have to ride it Besides at my age when Lanewhatshisname goes past, I can say "Yeh mate BUT I am riding a vintage bike not one of those new fangled machines" Cheers John Crump, OldstillridingBrit.
