Harry, Wives are a topic where generalizations are rarely valid. You just have to wait for the right one to come riding by, preferably on lugged steel.

Near the end of the 40 mile ride at last years All British Cycle Event was the toughest hill of the day. At the top, several of us waited for my wife. Not surprising as she's 60 and carrying quite a few extra pounds. I mumbled some lame apology for the delay. The reaction from the other guys was almost universal; "Are you kidding? I'd love it if my wife would come out on these events."
